Prof. Hassan Zmerly was born in 1967 in Lebanon.
He earned his Medical Degree with honours from the University of Bologna in 1990, his Orthopaedics & Traumatology residency with honours from the University of Bologna (Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institut) in 1995, and his PhD in Oncology from the University of Bologna (Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institut) in 1999, under the supervision of Prof. Mario Campanacci.
He is currently Director of the 1st Orthopaedic Division at Villa Erbosa Hospital, GSD, Bologna, Italy, and Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics at Ludes Campus (Semmelweis University), Lugano, Switzerland.
He performed more than 15.000 surgical interventions.
Scientific and clinical interests: Sport traumatology; Cartilage repair; knee and shoulder arthroscopy; knee, hip and shoulder arthroplasty.
He published 126 articles in Journals, abstract and Books. He has more than 100 oral and poster presentations. Scientific Secretariat of 11 courses and congress.
He is Member of the board of “Sport Traumatology and Arthroscopy” subspeciality of SICOT.
Guest Editor of JPTCP in 2020. Member of the Editorial Board of Plos One Journal. Elite Reviewer of JISAKOS.
Enrolled in the Medical Council in Lebanon and Italy, and recorded in the register of medical professions of Switzerland.
He is a father of two children. Speaks Italian, Arabic, French and English.
